Lincoln Parks and Recreation has opened some parts of Wilderness Park that were closed due to flooding. Only the section from Old Cheney Road to Pioneers Boulevard remains closed for trail maintenance. It is expected for the entire park to open by April 19. The public is reminded to stay off of wet trails and refrain from traveling on the outside edges of trails to prevent widening.
"As temperatures rise, we understand the desire to ride and hike in Wilderness Park, but walking around wet and muddy patches is not ok," said Aaron Druery, Greenways Supervisor for Lincoln Parks and Recreation. "Everyone needs to do their part to avoid trail widening. Be patient, let the area dry sufficiently, and we'll all get through mudseason without damaging our trails."
