The Pioneers Park Nature Center, 3201 Coddington Ave., is hosting the following public events this spring:
Spring Volunteer Day, Saturday, April 20, 9 to 11 a.m.
The public is invited to celebrate Earth Day by volunteering at the Nature Center. Work will include physical labor, walking trails, using garden tools, and other outdoor tasks. All volunteers must sign a Lincoln Parks and Recreation volunteer waiver form prior to volunteering, and forms will be available at the site. Children are welcome, and must be accompanied by an adult. Other volunteer opportunities throughout the summer are available, and no experience is necessary. Saturday with our Naturalist, Saturday, April 20, 2 to 3 p.m.
Nature Center Naturalist Jamie Kelley will be your guide on a hike to explore the trails and learn about plants and wildlife. All ages welcome. The program fee is $5, and the public may register in advance by calling 402-441-7895.
Get in the Garden Girl Scout Program, Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m. to noon
This program allows Junior Girl Scouts to earn the Garden Badge. Participants will observe different types of gardens, learn about choosing plants, start a seed experiment, and help the Nature Center with planting and gardening. Interested Girl Scouts may register at girlscoutsnebraska.org.
