Polley Music Library Hosts September Music Events
Lincoln City Libraries' Polley Music Library invites the public to several free events in September to celebrate Lincoln Calling and welcome new Music Librarian Scott Scholz. All events take place at the Bennett Martin Public Library, 136 S. 14th Street. The schedule is as follows:
- Wednesday, September 18, 6 to 7 p.m. – Pianist, composer, author and educator Thollem McDonas will talk about his music, travels, and collaborations with filmmakers and musicians, as well as perform some of his work on electric piano.
- Thursday, September 19, 5 to 6 p.m. – Finding the Right Sound in the Studio: This Lincoln Calling discussion panel features some of Nebraska's most experienced recording studio experts. This workshop will inform and inspire musicians hoping to sound their best, whether recording at home or in a studio.
- Thursday, September 26, 6 to 7:30 p.m. – Concert and Reception: Meet Scholz and enjoy short performances by a diverse set of local musicians, songwriters, composers and improvisers. They include: songwriter/storyteller Scott Severin with Joshua Rector; a composition by composer and soprano Elysia Arntzen; and instrument maker, composer and improviser Jay Kreimer.
The Polley Music Library is a service of Lincoln City Libraries privately funded through a gift from Lillian Helms Polley. The music library features a circulating collection of music books, printed music, compact discs, digital collections, non-circulating reference materials and music magazines. Additionally, the Polley Music Library Show is broadcast on KZUM 89.3 FM Saturday mornings and Sunday evenings. Future events include listening and songwriting clubs, and a speed dating-styled event for musicians seeking musicians for collaboration and to form bands.
