Due to the warm temperatures expected this week, Aging Partners reminds the public that new, electric fans are available free of charge to qualifying older adults. Fans are available for pickup this week at the Aging Partners office, 1005 "O" St. (located in the Downtown Senior Center).
"The warm, muggy weather is staying with us a bit longer than usual this fall, and the risk for heat-related illness continues to be especially high for the elderly," said Mitch Sump, Aging Partners Program Coordinator. "We encourage those who qualify to call our office this week and make arrangements to pick up a fan during our regular hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m."
Aging Partners plans, coordinates and advocates for older people in an eight-county area. Its mission is to enhance daily living, expand personal choices and educate the community in an effort to ensure the independence and full life of the people they serve.
