Board Upholds City Decision to Revoke Permit for Oasis Hotel

Local agencies will help those who need to relocate

The Lincoln Housing Code Advisory and Appeals Board unanimously today upheld a decision by the City Building and Safety Departments to revoke the operating permit for the Oasis Hotel, 5200 Cornhusker Highway. The estimated 50 to 100 residents of the hotel have 60 days to leave the building, and the City is collaborating with local social service agencies to provide services to help those impacted by the closing.

Holt Enterprises LLC has operated the hotel since operate in 2014, and the property has been cited for numerous violations by City departments. Since 2015, the Oasis has had 13 valid housing code complaints and 39 valid Health Department complaints, and the Lincoln Police Department has responded to more than 900 calls for service. The property was forwarded to the City's Problem Resolution Team in 2016.

A notice of the permit revocation was delivered to Holt Enterprises LLC in February, and the owner appealed the action. A March hearing was postponed until today.
