Search for Suspects Underway in Homicide
On April 18, 2016, at 3:24 p.m., officers with the Lincoln Police Department responded to the report of gunshots heard at 1966 Euclid Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found the resident, 32-year-old Christopher Michael Coleman, inside the home, unresponsive. Christopher Coleman was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second man, 21-year-old Jerry Lee Griffis, Jr., was also located inside the residence. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. A family dog was also shot during the incident. He was examined by an emergency veterinarian, but later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home, gathered and processed evidence through the night. Numerous interviews have been conducted as investigators continue to gather information to determine what led to the shooting. This do not appear to be a random act. Police do not feel there is an immediate threat to the public.
