On Thursday, July 7, 2016, at 1:30 a.m., members of the Lincoln Police Department were called to the convenience store on the southeast corner of N. 14th and Adams Streets on a reported robbery in progress.
Multiple Officers arrived within one minute of receiving the initial call. An employee was found to have sustained a gunshot wound. A witness was providing first aid and was relieved by officers who began CPR. At 1:41 a.m. the employee died. A K-9 track was initiated but did not lead to the suspect.
Witness accounts and a review of surveillance video describe the person responsible as a black male, 5'2" to 5'6", medium build, wearing a black short sleeve t-shirt, camouflage pants, a black glove on his right hand, with a white t-shirt or similar clothing item covering his head. He had a dark colored handgun and was last seen fleeing south on foot from the store. The attached photos from store surveillance footage are immediately preceding the shooting.
An autopsy has been ordered and the identity of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family members.
The preliminary investigation revealed multiple patrons were in and around the convenience store in the hour preceding the shooting. Crime Stoppers has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest on this case. We need the public's assistance to identify and apprehend the person responsible.
